What is League of Legends?
League of Legends is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) computer game developed and operated by Riot Games. It was released on October 27, 2009 as a free game, that is, without having to pay for it. More than 140 million players play “League of Legends” every month.
The principle of the game
In League of Legends, two teams, each consisting of five players, compete against each other. Each player controls a character, the so-called champion, from a panoramic view of the playing field (the “Summoners Rift”). Each player selects this champion, who has individual skills, strengths and weaknesses, before the game. There are over 160 champions in total. Over the course of a game that lasts about 20 to 50 minutes, champions gain more and more strength and equipment by killing minions, monsters, enemy champions and destroying enemy towers. The objective of the game is to destroy the opponent’s base, the so-called “Nexus”, before the opponent destroys their own Nexus.
