There are only a few shows on German TV that contain as much potential for conflict and drama as “Sommerhaus der Stars.” The RTL program has already provided some memorable TV moments. However, not in a positive sense.
Think of Georgina Fleur’s ex-fiancée Kubilay’s spitting attack on former Bachelor Andrej Mangold. But the way the couples interacted also had people shaking their heads repeatedly.
Mike Cees-Monballijn repeatedly degraded his wife Michelle Monballijn and even wanted to ban her from speaking to other participants. Farmer Patrick was also rarely charming to Antonia. And then there are current candidates Maurice and Ricarda. He also couldn’t resist attacking his girlfriend repeatedly.

These are just some of the chasms that continually open up, especially between people, in the RTL format. However – or probably precisely because of this – it has been one of the most successful formats on television for years.

However, one thing is extremely notable: RTL wants to improve every season. Only at some point will the tip of the iceberg be reached.

This year those responsible sent the personified drama to the “Summer House” with Valentina Doronina and her friend Can Kaplan. She did what was expected of her: insults, complaints, setting fires – to the point of absolute escalation.
The makers of “Summer House” go too far
However, RTL exaggerated on two points: If you bring Valentina to your home, you won’t need to invite several of her enemies with you. The creators of “Sommerhaus” were probably also aware of the fact that it quickly creates new formats.
It was like that on “Celebrity Big Brother”, where she repeatedly criticized Jeremy Fragrance. However, he did not allow himself to be disturbed and did not respond much to her verbal attacks. However, the candidates selected by the production for the “summer house” tend to have a shorter fuse. The unpleasant living conditions there and too much alcohol do the rest.

Although all this should have been clear to those responsible for RTL, they probably wanted to play it safe with the level of escalation and initially brought one of Valentina’s opponents Aleks Petrovic to the show and a little later Gigi Birofio , or rather, his girlfriend Dana Feist. Trash TV fans probably knew before the season started that this couldn’t last long.
RTL threw it away
RTL explored the drama surrounding Valentina and Aleks for weeks. Just when things were about to get harmonious between the two, the network basically fired the hand grenade – with certainly unintended consequences.
After fights, Valentina and Can, as well as Gigi and Dana had to leave the show. For Valentina, the matter did not stop there: she demanded that RTL show “the truth” long before the broadcast. She felt like she was being misrepresented before the season even started. RTL has remained largely discreet on the issue, only emphasizing that it does not condone violence.
Of course, the escalation did not harm the program, or rather, the audience. But RTL may have problems later. Because how can the drama of this year’s season be overcome in the future?
RTL has already “fried” the trash celebrities with the program’s shortest fuse. Elena Miras, Mike Cees or currently Maurice, Aleks, Gigi and Valentina. To improve, you need one thing above all else: trashy young celebrities. After all: RTL is at the source with programs like “Are You The One?”, “Ex on the Beach” or “Bachelor in Paradise”…
It was probably one of the most tiring seasons of “Sommerhaus der Stars” ever broadcast on RTL. Sure, the trashy TV show candidates have been good at major and minor scandals in the past, but this year Valentina Doronina and Can Kaplan in particular have risen above it all.
